Banana Nutella Swirl Pancake with Nutella Sauce

Banana Nutella Swirl Pancake with a Nutella Sauce

My friends, this Banana Nutella Swirl Pancake with hot Nutella Sauce is amazing! I wish I could have you all over for breakfast. This is one huge pancake with mashed bananas and a Nutella swirl served with fresh sliced bananas and a hot of the burner Nutella sauce poured over the top.

Banana Pancake with a Nutella Swirl recipe

I love bananas and I have written five other recipes with bananas being the main ingredient. When I have bananas that are getting to there ripened state it gives me an excuse to get creative in the kitchen. This morning I had two ripe bananas calling my name. I opened up the pantry and browsed the shelves. I originally thought donut holes but, when I saw the Bisquick the song Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson came to mind.

This is a pretty awesome breakfast. If you have leftovers save it for dessert. I would even go as far as putting a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream, sliced bananas, and hot Nutella sauce on top.

So let's just quickly talk about this pancake. I know you are probably thinking of those light fluffy pancakes typical of Bisquick but, these are a little different. I had to change it up a bit otherwise it would be a skillet full of mush. But don't worry it tastes just like a pancake only with bananas and Nutella laced through it.

For pancakes:
2 cups Bisquick
2 tsp baking powder
4 Tbs sugar
dash cinnamon
dash nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp bourbon vanilla extract
1 Tbs vegetable oil
1 egg
1 mashed banana
1/4 cup Nutella

For sauce:
2 Tbs butter
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup Nutella
1 tsp flour

sliced bananas for topping.

For pancakes:
Butter a 12 inch cast iron skillet.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Mix all the ingredients together except for the Nutella.
Once well combined stir in Nutella with minimal strokes as possibly. This will create ribbons of Nutella throughout the pancake. I used my Kitchen Aid Mixer with the paddle attachment and stirred it on level 1 for 3 seconds.
Pour pancake mixture into cast iron skillet.
Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

For sauce:
In a small saucepan melt butter on low heat.
Add Nutella and milk and whisk. Turn up the heat to a medium low heat.
Once well combined add flour and whisk together.

Slice pancake into individual servings and top with bananas and hot Nutella sauce.
Serve immediately.
