Cinnamon & Sugar Baked Mini Donuts

Cinnamom & Sugar Baked Donuts

It is a good morning now that I have these Baked Buttermilk Mini Cinnamon and Sugar donuts. They are fresh out of the oven, dipped in melted butter, then rolled in cinnamon and sugar. It is sweet morning bliss. Let's not forget the coffee either.

First things first! These are mini donuts. I bought the mini donut pan and developed the recipe for this pan. So you need to get yourself a mini donut pan. This is the one I have and love: Wilton Nonstick 12-Cavity Mini Donut Panit is really inexpensive and it makes perfect mini donuts. If you follow this blog then consider this a great investment because I plan on creating a ton of donut recipes.

We love donuts. We love them so much that we travel nearly an hour away to get our favorite donuts on special occasions. We live in a rural part of Maryland and the only place you can get donuts is at the local grocery store. Uggh! So homemade donuts it is!

Baked Buttermilk Cinnamon & Sugar Donuts

Cinnamon and Sugar Baked Buttermilk Mini Donuts

Makes 12 Mini Donuts
Ingredients
1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 large egg
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 Tbs melted butter
1 tsp pure bourbon vanilla extract

Ingredients for the topping.
4 Tbs melted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions
Preheat oven to 350F.
Spray the pan with cooking spray then lightly dust the pan with flour.
In a large mixing bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
In another mixing bowl whisk together the egg, buttermilk, butter, and vanilla.
Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
Pour batter into a piping bag or ziplock bag and cut the end off.
Pipe batter into the donut molds about 3/4 of the way full.
*You can spoon in the batter into the molds but the bag method is a lot cleaner, faster, and easier.
Place pan into the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Let donuts cool for a few minutes and flip out onto a tray.
For the topping place melted butter in a shallow bowl.
In a separate shallow bowl blend together the sugar and cinnamon.
One donut at a time dip both sides of the donut into the melted butter. Repeat the same process in the cinnamon and sugar.
They are now ready to serve!
