Fall Bake Sale: Vanilla Cream Cheese Brownies

Brownies are my absolute favorite. Cream cheese and brownies are one of my favorite flavor combinations. These tasty treats need to be refrigerated. I added a mixture of red & yellow food coloring to the vanilla cream cheese. This changed the color to orange to keep with the fall theme. Adding food color is not necessary and does not effect the taste.

Fall Bake Sale: Pumpkin Spice Sugar Cookies

Pumpkin Spice Swirled Sugar Cookies

This post is for that busy mom who got roped into participating in a bake sale. This really is not a recipe but an idea for a quick cookie that has flavor and style for this fall!

See all the Fall Bake Sale Recipes Here

Ingredients
- Pre-made refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- Pumpkin Spice

 Directions
- Preheat your oven as directed on the cookie dough package
- Pull apart your dough and roll into balls
- On a plate shake a layer of Pumpkin Spice
- Dip the top and bottom of the cookie balls in the Pumpkin Spice
- Roll the ball again in your hands (This should give you a cool marble or swirl design on your cookie.)
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake as directed on your cookie package

Here is a great shot of Elise's Pumpkin Spice Cookies she shared with her neighbors.

How to Harvest Black-Eyed Susan Seeds

I love this flower. It is a bright burst of color in a garden or in a flower arrangement. Fall has arrived and your Black-Eyed Susans should be losing their petals and dying back. This flower is biennial which means the first year it will not have a flower. This is the time to harvest seeds.

1. When the petals have fallen off you are left with a  black cone. Cut the cones off and place in a container that has a lid.

2. Cover with the lid and give the container a 30 second hard shake. This will loosen the seeds from the cone.

3. Place a colander over a bowl and pour the cones & seeds into the colander. The seeds will fall through the colander. Save seeds in an envelope and store until next planting season. See chart below.

Per USDA
Zone 7 - June-July
Zone 8 - May-June.
Zone 9 - April-May
Zones 10 & 11 - March-April, October-November.
