White Christmas Clusters

White Christmas Clusters Recipe

Tis the season for great baking item sales at the grocery store. This time of year is great to stock up on baking supplies like, sugar, chocolate chips and nuts. One afternoon I was craving chocolate and opened the door to my pantry and put this super easy recipe together.

I reference the boiler method for the chocolate. If you don't know what that is read my recipe for Chocolate Dipped Potato Chips. Yes, I love Ghirardelli chocolate and will melt it down and dip anything in it.

If using an ice tray lightly spray vegetable oil onto the tray. This will help when popping the candy out of the tray and will not affect the taste. Just like removing ice from the tray twist the tray. The candy should come right out.

You can fit the batch into 1, 14 cube ice tray but if you want smaller candies and more quantity fill only half way. If you don't have ice trays or chocolate molds you can spoon out the candy onto wax paper.

If you prefer chocolate molds Amazon has a really pretty CK Products 1-1/4-Inch Snowflake Chocolate Mold or Christmas Tree, Bells, Wreath, and Candy Canes Chocolate Mold

These little clusters have a beautiful presentation on a china plate. If you know someone that is a white chocolate fanatic these would make a wonderful homemade gift. You can pick up little boxes at your local craft store. Line the box with wax paper and BOOM you have a delicious gift.

Above, the first picture is of the double boiler method. The steam heats the chocolate in the glass bowl melting it down. Keep stirring so the chocolate doesn't burn.
The funny thing about the ice tray is that I don't think my kids know it is really for ice.

How to Grow Amaryllis

How to Grow Amaryllis

The beginning of November is the time to plant Amaryllis bulbs to have blooms around Christmas time. You should have already started to see Amaryllis bulbs in your local garden shops. Find a pretty pot or paint a pot for an added personal touch if you are giving the Amaryllis as a gift. You can even find Amaryllis bulb planting kits that come with a flower pot and can buy them online here: Amaryllis Kit: Apple Blossom + Plastic Pot/Saucer/Bulb

These are super easy to grow and make gorgeous gifts. Just follow these steps and you will have beautiful Amaryllis this holiday season.

Plant a single bulb in a 6-7 inch flower pot or 3 bulbs in a 10 -12 inch pot.  Make sure the flower pot is sturdy and heavy so the plant will not tip over when it reaches maturity.

Use a fast draining potting soil and cover the bulb leaving the tip of the bulb exposed.

Place the pot in direct sunlight and water sparingly with lukewarm water.

Your Amaryllis will begin to bloom in 8 - 10 weeks. Enjoy this stunning flower.

List of Flowers & Produce to Grow & Give

I love to garden and I love to give away what I grow. It gives an extra personal touch on a special gift. Are you a gardener? Show off your harvest by using hashtag #Grow2Give on Instagram.

Here is a list of things you can grow in your garden for you to enjoy and have enough to give to others.

Flowers that make a beautiful bouquet.
Roses - David Austin English Roses are beautiful & fragrant.
Hydrangeas - This gorgeous ball of blooms holds well in a vase for up to 4 days.
Zinnias - These are so colorful and so easy to grow. They will instantly put anyone in a better mood.
Gardenia - The blooms are so fragrant their scent can fill a room.

Produce that produces.
Tomatoes - Easy to grow and you won't be able to eat them all yourself.
Potatoes -  Depending on how many plants you have you may have buckets of potatoes.
Fresh Herbs (oregano, basil, thyme, sage etc.) - Dry the herbs out and put in little jars to give out.
Cucumbers - Once cucumbers get growing you can't keep up. Don't let a good cucumber go to waste.

Our friends love it when we bring them goodies from the our garden.
