Year-Round Giving: Orange Spiced Sweet Tea

Orange Spiced Sweet Tea

This Orange Spiced Sweet Tea recipe is refreshing and perfect for this Fall season. While visiting Summerville South Carolina, the birthplace of sweet tea, I had the best glass of sweet tea. It was orange spiced and they were not giving up their recipe. I bought 2 gallons and started on trying to duplicate the tea. Here is my recipe for Orange Spiced Sweet Tea:

Makes 2 quarts
Ingredients
1 orange peel
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves
2 family sized tea bags
4 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
6 cups ice

Directions
1. Add water, orange peel, cloves and cinnamon stick in a pot and bring to a boil.
2. Once boiling remove from heat and add the tea bags.
3. Let steep for 3-5 minutes.
4. With a slotted spoon remove orange peel, cloves, cinnamon stick, and tea bags.
5. Stir in sugar.
6. Fill a large pitcher with 6 cups of ice.
7. Pour tea into the pitcher and stir.
8. Refrigerate

Tips: Add some juice from your orange for extra orange flavor.
Add more sugar to taste.
